Gazprom plans to reach Chayanda’s projected capacity in 2022
MOSCOW, Nov 7 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom plans to reach a projected production capacity of 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year at the Chayanda field four years after the launch scheduled for late 2018, as seen by PRIME on Monday in a Eurobond prospectus.
“We plan to start gas production on the field in accordance with the deadline envisaged by our gas export contract to China through the eastern route. The projected annual gas production capacity of the field is 25 billion cubic meters, and we expect to reach it during the fourth year of commercial exploitation,” the document read.
“The projected annual amount of oil output is forecasted at the level of 3 million tonnes.”
After the Chayanda field has reached its projected output, Gazprom plans to launch the Kovykta field, whose projected output stands at 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 1.3 million tonnes of gas condensate.
The Kovykta and Chayanda fields will become sources for exports of gas through the Sila Sibiri (Power of Siberia) pipeline to China.
In May 2014, Gazprom and China’s CNPC signed a contract to supply up to 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year via a 3,000-kilometer Sila Sibiri pipeline, or the eastern route. Gazprom plans to start pumping gas through the pipeline in 2019, when the initial amount stands at 5 billion cubic meters.
